H.P. Lovecraft is the master and most of his stories are really amazing but I'm bringing up "Rats In The Walls" because this weekend I had read, for the tenth time or so, Stephen King's "Jerusalem's Lot" which is in the short story collection "Nightshift" which subsequently is the prequel and set up for one of the greatest modern novels ever written, "Salem's Lot". "Jerusalem's Lot" is directly influenced by the H.P. Lovecraft story (as well as his many others) and is just as creepy. If you want a quick read and a quick scare read either of them alone in a dark room.
