What ever happened to the gore. This is more important than torture porn. This goes back to when we as a collective maintained a certain amount of naivity. This an essential ingredient in understanding the 80's horror movie. In these times of serious demeanor what does one have left to laugh about? The general, social callus is too thick for meager blood and guts and the general tone is far less than humorous but think back for a second to the time when this was taken seriously as possible cause for the desensitizing of our youth. Try not to laugh...this is very solemn.
