I have some extremely distressing news....
I am currently hacking away at polishing my script "The Unusuals". I have, embarrassingly enough, been writing this opus since 1997. In all fairness to me the first seed of an idea came to me back then and it grew in sporadic jaunts in the form of napkins, Post-its, ripped edges of newspaper, etc, etc.. All these years later I am burning the midnight oils, really pushing to finish the thing so I can alleviate the pressure it has been building in the creative dams inside my brain. Oh and so I can sell the thing and alleviate the financial pressures that have been building since forever.
All bullshit aside...this is my baby. This is the reason I started writing. This is my masterpiece. My attempt to unfuck Hollywood. To bring horror movies back from the dead because I have to tell you what you think is fitting for horror genre is a joke...what do they call it "torture porn". Anything else are just remakes. I'm going to forget that a television show is coming out called "The Unusuals" and that Adrienne Barbeau wrote a book about vampires in Hollywood and that "Shadow of the Vampire" came out years ago but fuck it...we push on. We have to..I'm going to write the thing and in the end that in itself will be an accomplishment if nothing else.
Here's the pitch..."Something Wicked This Way Comes" meets "Salem's Lot" meets "Fright Night" but a dark comedy with serious social commentary. Sounds great doesn't it? If you knew anything about "Fright Night" then you'd know it was influenced by "Salem's Lot" and if you knew anything about "Salem's Lot" you'd know that it was influenced by "Something Wicked This Way Comes" which brings us to where? I have no idea...I mean the universe is expanding. There was the Big Bang, things imploded and exploded and now everything is expanding. It's all full circle...so it's no wonder they remake everything.
Anyway...what will it take for a contender? For a good revival? Not just another remake. Who knows what the future will bring but Evil Dead 2 is on my tv now and I have hope...and not for the next Eli Roth movie...please save us from him...no...I have hope that there are more out there like me...and I mean the true lovers of what goes bump in the night. The ones that still jump a foot from the bed before laying down after the lights go out.
...we're out of wine, what do we intend to do about it?
